A LITTLE STORY:
Have you ever stained your fingers with walnuts? I have memories of being a kid, picking up walnuts and discovering the stain on my fingers. The bright green husk of the walnut produces a beautiful warm ink. Another favorite ink I used in this piece is elderberry. The blue elderberry in this piece was made with wild berries I sustainably foraged in the high alpine mountains of California. Elderberries are one of my favorite berries. I made wild elderberry syrup with these berries too, its great to use as a supplement to help support your immune system, one neat berry.
A NOTE ON WILD BOTANICAL INKS:
These inks are one of a kind, alive and changing. Because of their wild nature each ink will change with time. I choose to celebrate this wonder and delight in the beauty of changing color. For best preserving of color I recommend keeping these pieces out of direct sunlight. Putting the piece behind UVA protected glass is a good option if color change is a concern.
