A LITTLE STORY :
The blue elderberry in this piece was made with wild berries I sustainably foraged in the high alpine mountains of California. Elderberries are one of my favorite berries, they are extraordinary & have been used as medicine since ancient times. Another intriguing color is the ink from organic wild harvested Canadian chaga mushrooms. This mushroom was harvested from birch trees, chaga is also used medicinally. Color and medicine can go hand in hand.
A NOTE ON WILD BOTANICAL INKS :
These inks are one of a kind, alive and changing. Because of their wild nature each ink will change with time. I choose to celebrate this wonder and delight in the beauty of changing color. For best preserving of color I recommend keeping these pieces out of direct sunlight. Putting the piece behind UVA protected glass is a good option if color change is a concern.
