A LITTLE STORY :
Blue green algae also known as spirulina, grows in alkaline fresh water around the world. It produces a wide range of blue to blue greens hues. I'm curious of the processes of making, gathering and painting with ink. This is no ordinary ink. Wild Pokeberry is the vivid pink you see in "curious". This berry has been used for ink for centuries. Civil War soldiers would use it to write letters, it has coined the term ink berry. Wild ink is curious indeed.
A NOTE ON WILD BOTANICAL INKS:
These inks are one of a kind, alive and changing. Because of their wild nature each ink will change with time. I choose to celebrate this wonder and delight in the beauty of changing color. For best preserving of color I recommend keeping these pieces out of direct sunlight. Putting the piece behind UVA protected glass is a good option if color change is a concern.
